Board of Directors
Each board member and advisor brings something different to the team, but they all have one thing in common – a passion and a belief in Shoreline of Hope’s mission.
Stephen Bacon,
Vice President
Stephen brings over 25 years of experience in corporate leasing, where he developed strong business acumen and financial literacy while serving both urban and resource-challenged communities. His compassionate and professional approach has consistently set him apart, particularly in hands-on management and operations. From creative problem-solving to effective conflict resolution, Stephen offers a balanced and grounded leadership style that helps align teams with their goals.
A lifelong Rhode Island resident, Stephen is deeply rooted in family values and community advocacy, especially for the elderly and underserved populations. He has been a dedicated foster parent through the Groden Center, reflecting his commitment to supporting and uplifting others in meaningful ways.
Stephen holds an EMT certification, further showcasing his service-oriented mindset and readiness to contribute wherever needed. A former high school varsity basketball player and current avid golfer, he brings the same energy and team spirit to his work as he does to the game.
His leadership is best described as action-oriented and guided by a servant’s heart. Stephen’s enthusiasm, integrity, and dedication shine through in his relationships with co-workers, collaborators, and campers alike—making him a vital part of any mission centered on inclusion, education, and Rhode Island pride.
Elise DelBarone,
Secretary
My name is Elise DelBarone, and I am a certified Pet Assisted Therapy handler with a degree in Psychology and Social Work. I am passionate about the emotional and therapeutic connection between humans and animals, and I’ve made it my mission to share that bond wherever I go.
I currently work alongside Daisy Mae, my gentle and affectionate 4-year-old hound mix, to provide calming and joyful interactions at the Campground.
Throughout my life, I’ve been guided by the values of compassion and connection. We spent time volunteering at nursing homes, where we brought smiles and comfort through pet therapy sessions. One of my greatest inspirations was with my beloved Aunty, who lived to be 103. We shared a deep bond and spent many joyful years traveling together to local events across Rhode Island — memories that continue to shape my commitment to community and caregiving.
Whether you’re a homesick camper, a parent looking for a moment of peace, or simply someone who finds joy in the presence of a furry friend, Daisy Mae and I are here to help. Our mission is simple: to offer the comforting presence in a peaceful, welcoming environment — because sometimes, the best therapy comes on four legs with a wagging tail.
Michael McKenna,
Treasurer
Michael studied textile design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), launching a successful career in New York City’s fashion industry. He worked with major brands such as Express Ltd. and Ocean Pacific before founding his own sourcing company, providing source materials for clients including Ralph Lauren, DKNY, and Martha Stewart.
Outside of the fashion world, Michael dedicated time to supporting individuals struggling with addiction, working within the Harm Reduction Model. This commitment led him to co-create an innovative treatment center in Costa Rica, specifically focused on veterans dealing with opioid addiction and PTSD.
Today, Michael owns and operates a farm in Costa Rica where he practices environmental stewardship and maintains an active apiary. When not tending to his bees, he is based in Rhode Island, where he develops farm-based programs for youth and community camps, continuing his mission to support healing through nature, sustainability, and compassionate care.
