Shorelines of Hope is a Rhode Island based nonprofit whose mission is creating inclusive overnight camp experiences.
The Vision: Shore Adventure Centers
At Shore Adventure Centers, we envision a camp where every child, veteran, elder, and individual—regardless of ability, identity, or background—can find belonging, joy, and purpose.
We are building more than a camp. We are building a safe harbor where nature heals, where compassion leads, and where unforgettable memories spark lifelong growth.
Through inclusion, enrichment, and respect, we aim to create a place where every guest feels seen, supported, and celebrated—365 days a year.
Shore Adventure Centers isn’t just a camp – it’s a promise. That no matter who you are, you matter here.
“Understanding the Role of Summer Camps in the Learning Landscape”
In this national survey of adults (ages ~18-25) who had attended camp for at least 3 weeks when younger, many reported that certain outcomes tied to camp were still relevant in their lives.

Our Mission
At Shore Adventure Centers, we believe every soul deserves a place to belong. Our mission is to create a safe, empowering, and joy-filled environment where children, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and people from all backgrounds can connect, grow, and heal through nature, friendship, and shared adventure. We honour every story, celebrate every difference, and welcome every heart-because true community begins where inclusion lives.
Help Us Provide a Safe Space
Whether it’s guiding youth, learning new skills, or simply enjoying peaceful moments in nature, our camp offers hope, dignity, and a fresh start for those who need it most.
FOUNDER'S STORY
Melissa Cullen, Founder and President
I grew up understanding what it meant to go without food, without encouragement, without a sense of future or hope. But I also know the power of being given a chance.
As a child, I had the life-changing opportunity to attend Morgan Memorial Fresh Air Camps. What began as a nervous, uncertain experience for a 7-year-old soon became a transformative journey. Camp was more than just fun—it was educational, social, and deeply empowering. I gained life skills I wouldn’t have learned elsewhere. By age 15, I became a Counselor-in-Training, eventually working my way up to Program Director. Summer after summer, I returned—not just because I loved camping, but because it had reshaped my life.
That experience became the inspiration behind Shore Adventure Centers.
For decades, I’ve dedicated my life to working with children and underserved communities—from owning daycare centers in Warwick, RI to mentoring high school students with special needs. I’ve also volunteered with women’s groups, supported elderly individuals, and continuously advocated for spaces where everyone feels safe, included, and inspired.
